Ekiti 2022: Groups reveal which political party would win gubernatorial elections

  • The People’s Democratic Party would not emerge victorious in the Ekiti governorship election on June 18, 2022, some groups in the country have said.
  • In a statement, the groups said the winner of the PDP primary election is a makeshift candidate planted by the former governor of Ekiti State.
  • The groups also warned that the PDP must be aware that the APC does not settle for less when it desires power

Some groups have said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot win the Ekiti gubernatorial election scheduled for June 18, 2022.

The groups also said that the national working committee of the PDP led by Iyorchia Ayu is already bewitched and cannot defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

In a statement released Friday, January 28, the Ekiti Political Intervention Coalition, a concerned group of party delegates and members seen by Legit.ngthe groups said the winner of the PDP primary election is a makeshift candidate planted by former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The statement signed by Banji Dada and Abayomi Olowomeye for EPIC and CDPM respectively says that the candidate was planted to help the candidate of the incumbent governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi of the Congress of All Progressives win the election in post of governor.

The groups said the Ayu-led leadership of the PDP’s national working committee remained unresponsive, clueless and lacked the intelligence to unravel a secret dumping ground opened by Fayemi and others.

According to the group, the plan of Ayu and his team to expel Senator Biodun Olujimi from the party due to the ongoing lawsuits filed by the repositioning group will not prevent the defeat of the PDP in Ekiti.

The statement read in part:

“We will encourage Senator Olujimi to drag suits until after the PDP Presidential Convention to teach the party a life lesson.

“The same Fayose they once backed colluded with Uche Secondus and planted surrogates to stop the national convention that produced the new NWC; If the PDP could reward their compromised aspirant with a ticket, then Olujimi has good reason to Carry on.”

APC is not up to the PDP in its quest for power in Ekiti State?

The groups further noted that the APC does not settle for less when it desires power in a particular state or region and there is a clear probability that the PDP is poised to win.

It said:

“But footage surfaced showing Fayose with Fayemi and Governor Udom Emmanuel in a mood that betrayed the trust of PDP party members, and that was a shame.”

The groups added that the PDP primary election in the state witnessed the mutilation and exclusion of delegates’ names from the register, the deliberate disenfranchisement of many automatic delegates who were accredited but who were denied labels and barred from voting among many others.

He added :

“The Governor of Akwa Ibom also diminished his leadership by allowing Fayose aides to sit in the room purposely to monitor and intimidate the delegates.

“The Ekiti PDP gubernatorial primary was a charade, and it was not a free and fair process.”

Fayose anointed candidate Bisi Kolawole wins Ekiti PDP gubernatorial primary

Meanwhile, Bisi Kolawole was elected as the PDP candidate in the June 18 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

The primary election took place in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday 26 January.

Legit.ng came together that Kolawole edged out Segun Oni, a former governor, and Kolapo Olusola, a former deputy state governor to become the flag bearer of the PDP.

Kolawole had resigned as chairman of Ekiti PDP to contest the gubernatorial election.

Governor of Ekiti received the PDP leader from other governors on the party’s platform in the Government House when they came for the conduct of the primaries in the state.

Fayemi, who referred to Fayose as governor, noted that real politics is marked by togetherness, not rancor.
