Athol Trollip, former chairman of the Federal Democratic Alliance and mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, has officially joined ActionSA.
Trollip became the latest former top Democratic Alliance member to join Herman Mashaba’s party after revealing former DA Midvaal mayor Bongani Baloyi as a new addition two weeks ago.

I had this political fire burning in my stomach that made me wonder if I had done enough in politics. And when Herman Mashaba called and said we had to change South Africa, it was time for me to accept the offer because I want to see democratic political change in my lifetime.

He adds that the country cannot afford to keep corruption endemic under the African National Congress.
Trollip is taking the strings as provincial chairman of the Eastern Cape and will work with grassroots structures to build the party for the upcoming elections in 2024, he adds.
