Israeli leaders from all political walks of life greet Queen Elizabeth II

Israeli leaders from all political walks of life have expressed their condolences for the death of Queen Elizabeth IIpraising the British monarch for her dedication to service.

Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and the country’s figurehead for seven decades, has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace confirmed earlier on Thursday.

Prime Minister Yair Lapid sent his condolences to the British royal family on Thursday following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and said she left behind an “unprecedented legacy”.

“On behalf of the government and people of Israel, I send my condolences to the royal family and people of the United Kingdom on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” he said on Twitter. “She leaves behind an unparalleled legacy of leadership and service.”

May his memory be a blessing,” Lapid tweeted.

President Issac Herzog said he mourned the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was known from afar as The Queen. Her passing marks the end of an era. Along with the people of Israel, I mourn her loss and express my deepest condolences to the British people and to all nations of the Commonwealth, who lost their monarch,” Herzog said.

“Queen Elizabeth was a historic figure: she lived history, she made history, and with her passing she leaves a beautiful and inspiring legacy.

“Throughout her long and memorable reign, the world has changed dramatically, while the Queen has remained an icon of stable and responsible leadership, and a beacon of morality, humanity and patriotism. In her life and in service to her people, the Queen embodied a spirit of integrity, duty and age-old tradition,” he said.

“My late mother and father had several audiences with the Queen over the years. Her warm welcome and warm hospitality left a deep impression on generations.”

Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted his condolences over Queen’s death. “Along with all the people of Israel, we send our condolences to the people of Britain and the Royal Family on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

“She was a legendary ruler, a beacon of integrity and a steward of a second Elizabethan age who will be remembered down the ages. Bless her memory.”

The municipality of Tel Aviv was lit up in the colors of the British flag in mourning for the loss of the queen.

Mayor Ron Huldai said he was deeply saddened.
