Kohima, August 31: Demanding a speedy settlement of the Naga political issues, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the state government would not obstruct but pave the way for the wisdom of the Naga and resign from the caretaker government.

Inaugurating the Lotha Hoho (Lotha Tribal Council) building in Wokha district town late Tuesday evening, the Chief Minister said the current multi-party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) government is sincere and determined to solve the problem of the Naga.

“The settlement (of the Naga political issue) should come at the earliest and if that happens, we will not stand in the way but pave the way for the Naga wisdom and tribal wisdom and resign from the caretaker government and consider how the naga should live as a united family and progress with the help of God,” Rio said.

He also mentioned that the parties to the negotiations engaged to resolve the Naga political issue have already signed the framework agreement and the agreed position, which means they have signed to be with the Union of India. But, at the same time, he said it is equally important to recognize the unique history of the Nagas and to coexist with a new relationship between the two entities.

Stating that Nagaland is a special status state, Rio said the special status granted to the state involves a decision in accordance with the customary law of the state.

“We have a recognized tradition and customary law and the guardians of customary law and traditions of the Nagas and the community are the supreme organ of the tribal hohos and the institutional chairman of the village council is the ultimate authority,” he said. -he declares.

He urged the guardians of customary law and traditions to know the true meaning of the institution and to work accordingly for the welfare of the Naga community.

Noting that Wokha district in western Nagaland is so fertile and endowed with natural resources, the chief minister urged the Lotha community to work hard for a progressive society.

He also called on people to think positively and know how to exist in peace and harmony with each other for a progressive Naga society.

Rio also said that there are about 15 programs directly benefiting farmers and called on the district administration and relevant departments to monitor the programs and policies so that the programs are properly implemented and ensure that the programs and central and state policies reach the targeted people. .
