Regarding “Texas Court Halts Inquiries Over Transgender Children” (news article, March 12):

Thousands of parents — liberals, conservatives, and everything in between — face tough decisions when a child comes out as transgender, especially when that child showed no signs of gender dysphoria in their early years.

Unfortunately, this issue, like so many others in our country, has been politicized. Governor Greg Abbott of Texas’ edict to investigate parents for child abuse if they provide certain medical treatments to their transgender children was sweeping and divisive. A Texas court ruled March 11 that the policy was improperly enacted and violated the state Constitution.

Amid the political posturing, allowing children to alter their bodies through lifelong medical treatment deserves an analytic conversation. Parents around the world are wondering how to prevent their children from starting hormone therapy, which has lifelong side effects.

Many feel isolated and helpless as schools, therapists, gender specialists and others encourage gender transition. Many believe that children, perhaps too young to understand the implications of medical decisions, are being drawn into a social movement.

The problem is that we cannot talk about this issue without making it political.

For the editor:

In telling Texas Child Care Services to prioritize investigations into parents who help their children into transgender therapy instead of investigating actual cases of serious child abuse, Governor Greg Abbott said proved that its best the priority is not to help children in danger, but to strengthen its appeal to trans- and homophobic voters in order to obtain the Republican presidential nomination.

What a cold, insensitive man. Is this really the kind of person any party would want in high office? I hope not, but that he was elected governor of Texas is chilling confirmation of the coldness and callousness of his supporters. Here is yet another narcissistic politician targeting the White House by flouting the law and attacking those who are different. America is better than that!

Re “Victim of the fight against transgender youth: a crucial clinic” (press article, March 10):

As a pediatrician who has cared for transgender patients and trained at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Dallas Children’s Medical Center, I think the decision to close the clinic goes against everything the what is known about the care of children with the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and the recommendations of experts in the field.

I have seen firsthand the benefits of multidisciplinary care offered by clinics like Genecis. Closing the clinic will undoubtedly cause unnecessary suffering for its patients and other children who may have been treated there. It appears the administrators responded to requests from misinformed anti-trans supporters rather than the best science and evidence.

This trend of public health policy driven by misinformed anti-science political pressure is alarming – and hopefully short-lived and reversible.

Re “This ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill Will Hurt Teenagers Like Me” (opinion guest essay, March 15):

Will Larkins’ heartfelt cry on behalf of gay and gender nonconforming teens touched me deeply. It also brought back a long dormant memory:

In 1990, when I was a sophomore in high school, I submitted an essay about a boy I liked. When my English teacher, Mr. Coyle, returned it to me, I saw that he had added in his uninviting red scribble the dreaded “Look at me after class”.

When the last of my classmates had left, I approached the large desk at the front of the room and, in a small voice, I offered, “Did you want to see me?”

“Yes,” said Mr. Coyle, pointing to my paper. “Are you okay with that? Because I am.”

Eight words I couldn’t have heard at home. Eight words that saved my life.

Mr. Coyle has since died, lost too soon to Alzheimer’s disease, but he lives in the spirit of Henry Adams’ words: “A teacher affects eternity; he can never say where his influence ends.

Re “Kim Jong-un Is Just Getting Started”, by Jean H. Lee (opinion guest essay, March 15):

Ms. Lee is right: the Biden administration needs to pay more attention to North Korea. But it lacks viable solutions to advance the increasingly difficult goal of denuclearization.

So far, US policies have only made the situation worse. For example, sanctions have failed to force Kim Jong-un to give up his nuclear weapons, and annual military exercises between the United States and South Korea further push North Korea to demonstrate its military capability.

Regional cooperation, including with China, will be essential to achieve denuclearization. A critical area of cooperation could be replacing the ceasefire with a peace agreement formally ending the Korean War. Many experts agree that the unresolved status of the war has been the main obstacle to bringing peace to the region.

The Biden administration should prioritize diplomatic solutions by officially ending the Korean War on the table and take small reciprocal steps to normalize relations with North Korea in order to achieve the ultimate goal of a peninsula. Korea free of nuclear weapons.

In Gwinnett, local redistricting sparks debates about changing demographics and politics https://juryteam.org/in-gwinnett-local-redistricting-sparks-debates-about-changing-demographics-and-politics/ Tue, 01 Mar 2022 13:59:59 +0000 https://juryteam.org/in-gwinnett-local-redistricting-sparks-debates-about-changing-demographics-and-politics/ In 2018, Marlene Fosque made history. In 2018, Marlene Fosque made history. Voters elected her the first black person to serve on the Gwinnett County commission in its 200-year history.

Two years later, Gwinnett County voters turned the entire county commission to Democrat.

For the first time, all commissioners were people of color.

“Gwinnett County is the most diverse county in the state of Georgia and the southeastern United States,” Fosque says. “So what that says is that people have changed. The change is not already coming for him, it is already here.

So it came as a surprise to Fosque when Republicans in the Georgia legislature ditched the redistricting map drawn by county officials and swapped it with their own map.

Typically, local authorities draw local maps after the census, and then the legislature rubber stamps them. In this new republican map, the territory represented by Fosque has been redrawn. It now includes the northern part of the county which is whiter and more Republican-friendly, packing in more voters of color in other districts.

State Rep. Sam Park helped lead Democrats’ efforts to stop that map.

“It really dilutes the political power of Gwinnett voters from the Black, Hispanic and Asian American communities, and it undermines their freedom to ultimately vote for the elected officials of their choosing,” Park said.

At Paris Baguette, a Korean bakery near the Gwinnett neighborhood of Park where you can get sesame tapioca bread and passion fruit mochi donuts, Park says Gwinnett County has steadily grown and to diversify.

When Park ousted a Republican for his Statehouse seat in 2016, he became the first Asian American Democrat elected to the Georgia legislature.

For years, Gwinnett sent mostly Republicans to the state legislature. In 2018, the majority of Gwinnett lawmakers were Democrats. Park says that’s why the Republican-controlled legislature is intervening.

“It’s, ultimately, driven by a lot of fear being nurtured by people who are concerned that maybe Gwinnett’s shifting demographics are now being reflected in elected officials at the state and local levels,” Park says.

Republicans say that is not true.

State Rep. Bonnie Rich is one of Gwinnett County’s last remaining Republicans in the Legislative Assembly. She says the county map drawn by GOP lawmakers is fairer and ensures rural voters in the county are represented in their local government.

“My constituents come to me and they tell me they have no voice and no seat at the table,” Rich said during the only legislative hearing on the Republican-drawn maps.

The rich and other Republicans are adamant – it has nothing to do with race. Gwinnett County resident Michelle Frost spoke at a hearing, supporting the Republican map.

“I feel like I live in a neighborhood that’s the box of Crayola crayons, the 64 colors, and that’s my favorite life,” Frost says. “It’s not a conservative-liberal thing. It’s a people business. So we really have to pay attention to people and everyone has to have a voice.

Republican House Speaker David Ralston was candid. He says elections have consequences. The legislature is controlled by Republicans, and the legislature has the final say on redistricting maps.

Yet the Voting Rights Act prohibits drawing constituencies that dilute the voting power of minorities.

“Untangling race and politics is one of the hardest things for the courts to do, and it’s especially difficult in the south where race and politics overlap to a very large extent,” says Michael Li, redistricting expert at the Brennan Center for Justice.

Li says Gwinnett County is a microcosm of how Georgia and other parts of the country deal with changing demographics and political power.

“Some of the biggest battles around redistricting this cycle are going to be fought in the rapidly changing suburbs of the country, especially the southern suburbs,” Li said. “Where both suburban politics have changed, but also the suburbs have diversified.”

Governor Brian Kemp eventually signed the Gwinnett County maps redrawn by Republican lawmakers. Litigation is possible, but the elections are approaching.

Gwinnett Democrat Marlene Fosque acknowledges that the only way forward will now be to run in her new commission district.

“Commissioners, we’re the main connectors to resources and access, to things like zoning that impact your neighborhood, so that’s huge,” she says.

Fosque says it’s important that Gwinnett voters see themselves reflected in the county commission, so she will continue to fight to keep her place at the table.

EDINBURGH, Texas — An independent citizen journalist who unearths information about the darker side of Hidalgo County politics says it’s time for a local party leader to step down.

Josh D. Mariscal says that based on text and phone interactions he’s had with Hidalgo County Democratic Party Chairman Patrick Eronini, it’s clear Eronini is trying, at best, to orchestrate a campaign of libel in the Hidalgo County judge’s race, and at worst, trying to select the poll workers who will influence voters to change their vote.

In a phone conversation recorded by Mariscal, Eronini said, “She’s a crackhead, from what I heard.” He was referring to Hidalgo County judge candidate Tania Ramirez. In another phone conversation with Mariscal, Eronini claimed Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez was “incompetent” and “arrogant” and “belongs to a nursing home.”

However, Norma Ramirez, another candidate for Hidalgo County judge, is well qualified, Eronini argued. Asked about Norma Ramirez’s candidacy by Mariscal, Eronini replied, “Well, she has the background. As an entrepreneur, she creates jobs. She has the temper. She is competent.

Going back to Tania Ramirez and Judge Cortez, Eronini told Mariscal, “For the sake of this county, we can’t let these people in.”

These remarks are on a video story Mariscal posted on his YouTube channel. He calls his channel NEC, which is short for Necessary. A sin News necessary for the RGV.

the Guardian of the Rio Grande texted Eronini asking if he wanted to comment on Mariscal’s reporting. He did not answer.

In his YouTube story video, Mariscal plays an audio file of a conversation Eronini has with a potential election worker. Mariscal said he received the audio file from one of his contacts.

In the clip, Eronini told the presidential candidate, “You are from Hidalgo. Why don’t you work (in a polling station) in Hidalgo? Why do you want to work at Donna?

It seems that a man is asking for a polling station on behalf of a woman politician.

“It is better for her to work in Hidalgo where she knows the people. If they don’t know you, they won’t listen to you,” Eronini told the man.

“It is better for her to work in Hidalgo where she knows people. You know what I’m saying?”

Eronini continued: “It’s easier for you to get their vote (in Hidalgo). In Donna, you don’t know people. The only people you can change their minds about are people you know. If you don’t know people, they won’t listen to you.

Mariscal urged Tania Ramirez and Judge Cortez to report Eronini to the Texas Democratic Party.

“I can say that in the few interactions I’ve had, I don’t think Patrick is someone who should be involved in politics,” Mariscal said.

“He doesn’t deserve to serve the public. And he certainly doesn’t deserve to be the leader of the Hidalgo County Democratic Party right now.

About Josh Mariscal

Mariscal was born and raised in Edinburgh, Texas. He said he got involved in local politics because he didn’t like the way Hidalgo County was handling the COVID-18 pandemic.

“That’s what pushed me into journalism, to really look at these professionals and hold them accountable for their reactions to the pandemic,” Mariscal told the Guardian of the Rio Grande.

Asked about his position on the political spectrum, Mariscal replied: “I am progressive. Now, here in Hidalgo County, I can’t say I’m a Democrat because it’s hard for me to tell when I see so much wrong with the local party.

Mariscal believes Eronini contacted him because of his knowledge of the local political scene.

“I’m a bit high profile in Edinburgh because I know all these politicians. He (Eronini) saw me around. I think he neglected my integrity because there are all these anonymous accounts that will gladly post things the way he wanted me to post them. I think he just thought I would be another like that and do his job for him.

Mariscal said Eronini first sought him out via Facebook Messenger earlier this year with text simply saying “Hello”. To which Mariscal replied: “Who are you?” Eronini then said, “I was told to send you these documents.

Mariscal said he liked the idea of doing a negative article on Cortez.

“I didn’t like the way Judge Cortez handled the pandemic, so I always had a problem with Judge Cortez. But, when I found out that this election was going to be stolen from him, I intervened and, although I don’t like the man, on principle, I didn’t want him to lose because he had made himself steal. Even though I don’t like the guy, I did what was right,” Mariscal told the Guardian of the Rio Grande.

Mariscal said the “more vehement” attacks were aimed at Tania Ramirez. He said he received a video of her from Eronini via Facebook Messenger. He released it on his YouTube channel as proof of his existence, but released it very quickly, so viewers couldn’t see or hear the smears.

Asked where the videos of Tania Ramirez and Cortez came from, Eronini wrote, “The last one (on Cortez) was posted on Facebook and the other (on Tania Ramirez) was on a thumb drive left at my desk.”

When asked if Eronini ever offered him money to write biased stories against Tania Ramirez or Judge Cortez, Mariscal replied, “No, he didn’t offer me money. He made me feel like he was doing me a favor. But in reality he was trying to use me as a misinformation mule to just broadcast to my audience. Since I have some credibility, that would give some credibility to this story.

In his video, Mariscal makes a plea to Eronini. “It’s time for you to quit,” he said. And he issues a warning to voters of the Democratic Party in Hidalgo County. “It will not be a fair election.”

Editor’s Note: We’ll post Patrick Eronini’s response to Josh Mariscal’s video story on YouTube as soon as it’s available.

Americans from all political backgrounds want more transparency in FDA drug approval decisions https://juryteam.org/americans-from-all-political-backgrounds-want-more-transparency-in-fda-drug-approval-decisions/ Tue, 22 Feb 2022 17:54:12 +0000 https://juryteam.org/americans-from-all-political-backgrounds-want-more-transparency-in-fda-drug-approval-decisions/ According to a new study, Americans of all political persuasions, genders, races and levels of education want medical regulators to be more transparent. According to a new study, Americans of all political persuasions, genders, races and levels of education want medical regulators to be more transparent.

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland asked Americans whether they agree with certain statements about the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the transparency of some of its decisions.

Of the ten statements presented to participants, all received support of 65% or more.

The researchers also found little difference in participants’ responses based on demographic factors such as education or political leanings.

In an era of heightened political polarization in the United States, it is rare for Americans to agree with each other across the aisle.

However, there seems to be universal recognition of the need for greater transparency on the part of the FDA.

“The idea behind the project was that at a time when the FDA’s public profile was probably higher than [any other time] in everyone’s living memory, is there a reason why the agency should communicate more clearly, and are there opportunities to do so,’ said Dr. Tej Azad, neurosurgery resident at Johns Hopkins and lead author of the study to DailyMail. com.

Azad and the team, who published their findings last week in Open JAMA Networkcollected data from 4,002 participants for the study.

The study population was asked about ten statements regarding FDA transparency and rated each on a five-point scale ranging from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.”

Dr Tej Azad (pictured), neurology resident at Johns Hopkins University, said the decision-making 'pendulum' between experts and average people should swing back to the middle

Dr Tej Azad (pictured), neurology resident at Johns Hopkins University, said the decision-making ‘pendulum’ between experts and average people should swing back to the middle

Questions include whether the FDA should provide more information about drug decisions, when drug trials are halted or suspended, and more explanations about actions and decisions made by federal regulators.

All ten statements had significantly higher levels of participants’ approval than disapproval.

The most endorsed statement was: “If pharmaceutical companies provide false or misleading drug development information to the public, the FDA should share the correct information with the public”, with 90% of participants in favour, with only 0 .6% showing opposition.

A single statement elicited more than 11% opposition: “The FDA should share with the public the agency’s analyzes of drugs that pharmaceutical companies have stopped developing.

There was at least a 50 point margin between support and opposition for each of the ten statements.

The researchers also broke down the data by race, education level, household income, geographic region, political party identification and even who a person voted for in the 2020 presidential election.

Overall, Americans wanted transparency from regulators. Azad described it as a surprise, noting that Americans don’t seem to agree on much anymore.

Government calls for transparency are not new ideas, however, and citizens are expected to want their tax-funded organizations to respond to them.

There are, however, potential downsides to expanded access to information. Much misinformation spread about COVID-19, for example, comes from misinterpreted authentic sources – whether maliciously or not.

The researchers found that across all demographics, Americans want the FDA to be more transparent. Senior Researcher Says Experts Should Properly Convey Information to Ordinary People Without Being

Ivermectin has become a household name in recent months for this very reason. The anti-parasitic drug has gained prominence in some conservative and anti-vaccine circles as a potential cure for Covid.

The source of these claims is a legitimate, peer-reviewed Australian study that showed the drug could inhibit virus replication in a lab environment.

The doses used in the study are so concentrated that they would not be safe for human use, and the results are only reproducible inside a laboratory and not in human subjects.

There have been several studies of ivermectin in the treatment of Covid patients since the drug’s rise to prominence and each has shown that it lacks the ability to fight the virus in humans.

Azad says it’s the responsibility of health experts to properly communicate information in a way that doesn’t seem ‘paternalistic’ and to ensure that people are given enough information to enable them to make the right decision for themselves. themselves.

“We think a lot about paternalism,” he said.

“Where you come out in the balance between trying to get people to adopt what you really think is the right thing or the right behavior, versus really stepping back and [saying] “hey, here’s all the information you’re making the call.”

“I think the reality is that for something like that, the right answer is somewhere in between.”

Americans misinterpreting an ivermectin study led many to mistakenly believe the anti-parasitic drug could treat COVID-19 symptoms, a potential mark against better access to information (file photo)

Biogen’s Aduhelm was denied Medicare funding and the FDA was widely criticized after approving the drug despite two failed clinical trials, in what could be seen as a positive result of greater transparency ( archive photo)

He describes the situation as a pendulum currently swinging in the direction of the experts, leaving many average people feeling left out of key medical decisions. The pendulum should be more towards the middle, says Azad.

A contrary example to ivermectin is what happened after the Alzheimer’s drug Aduhelm received FDA approval last summer.

The drug still managed to receive the green light from the FDA despite two failed clinical trials and limited data showing it was effective.

A flurry of neurological experts pored over the data for themselves and slammed the FDA’s decision.

An intense backlash to the drug, fueled by those experts with access to the trial date, led to the drug being rejected for reimbursement by Medicare and former acting FDA director Janet Woodcock even calling for an investigation into its own agency for approving the drug.

In this case, transparency and easy access to information may have corrected a mistake made by regulators, Azad believes.

Ten statements presented to study participants

  1. The FDA should share with the public the reasons why the drugs are not improved
  2. FDA should share company and drug name with public when companies seek to conduct human subject studies
  3. The FDA should notify the public when studies are suspended and the reasons for suspending a study
  4. If the FDA allows a suspended study to restart, the FDA must share with the public the reasons why the study resumed
  5. FDA should share company and drug name with public when generic drug applications are filled
  6. The FDA should share with the public when the agency is expediting a review as well as the scientific basis for that action
  7. The FDA should share with the public how the special safety measures put in place for certain drugs work
  8. The FDA should publish a list of drugs that drug companies have stopped developing
  9. The FDA should share with the public the agency’s analyzes of the drugs that pharmaceutical companies have stopped developing
  10. If pharmaceutical companies provide false or misleading drug development information to the public, the FDA must share the correct information with the public.

How We Made This List of Same Day Loans

Firstly, we made a compilation of different online payday loans available. After that, we shortened the list using several factors such as company reputation, website security, loan repayment terms, and certified license.

Furthermore, we looked at the reviews from each company’s website and other reputable sources. We also checked for their transparency as some loan companies are not what they claim to be. These and many more are what we checked for to make up this list. Below is a review of some of the things we checked for before coming up with the list.

What We Looked For In These Loan Companies

While making up this list, we checked for:

  • Interest rates: Although many online payday loans offer exorbitant interest rates, there are still some that offer reasonable rates. Checking for interest rates is essential to avoid getting trapped in overpaying the loan. The interest rates are different from lender to lender. Some charge a reasonable fee of 15%, while others charge exorbitantly up to 50%. Therefore, it’s only appropriate that you know your lender’s interest rate before you sign the loan agreement.
  • Experience: Experience matters a lot. We checked for loan companies that have been in the business for a while. If a loan company has existed for some time, they likely are what they claim to be. In addition, if a company has much experience, they’ll gain the trust of many as they’ll be seen as capable.
  • Transparency: The companies on our list are transparent in their dealings. We removed companies that did not disclose their interest rates. We also checked for hidden charges, and none of our top picks had hidden costs. Also, we removed loan companies that do not offer enough protection for user data hence, breaching agreement rules. Furthermore, we reviewed each company’s privacy policy and terms of use because they go deeper into what they stand for.
  • Customer satisfaction: To determine the customers’ satisfaction, we checked reviews from the loan websites. Besides reviews from the company’s website, we also checked other reputable sources to verify the reviews. From our research, the majority of the customers are satisfied with the operations of our best online payday loans.
  • License: Any legitimate organization will be registered under a reputable body to operate as a recognized lending platform. This body controls their activities and ensures they do not go beyond their limits.

Buying Guide: Factors to Consider Before Choosing Instant Cash Loans

Some online payday loan companies aren’t what they claim to be, while others are fraudulent. However, if you carry out proper research, you’ll be at a lesser risk of falling victim to fake loan companies. That is why we have included a buying guide for you so you won’t fall victim to these fraudulent loan sites. Below are some factors you should consider to get the most out of any online payday loan company.

There are different online payday loan rates available through various lenders. Some are reasonable with their rates, while others charge exorbitantly. It’s in your best interest to go for loan rates that suit you. In addition, if a payday loan website doesn’t disclose its rates and terms, it’s better to stay away. Aside from this, ensure you calculate the interest rates to be sure of the monthly payments.

Just like the loan rates, checking for their loan terms can save you a lot of anxiety. Some lenders are strict with their loan terms, requiring you to make the monthly payment without delay. However, some others offer much flexibility such that you can extend your repayment date to the next month. If you decide to deal with lenders that provide automatic repayment extensions, factor in the additional fees you’ll be charged for, as this will assist you in making a wise decision.

This is important when trying to separate real loan sites from fake ones. Check if the loan company is under an approved regulatory body. For instance, in the United States, loan providers must be regulated by laws and bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority, The Office of Fair Trading, and the Consumer Credit Acts of 1974 and 2006. However, some lenders are exempted from this federal protection because of the Tribal Land option. In either case, any loan company you choose must be part of a credible alliance.

Ensure you choose lenders that have been in the industry for a long time. Long existence in the industry portrays stability. These lenders have the required experience to handle clients’ issues and know what works best for their clients. Long existence also means they have stayed long enough to prove they are genuine. As such, they can be trusted with personal information.

Before agreeing to a loan, ensure you have carefully read the terms and conditions. Remember, you’re not under any obligation to accept the loan terms and offers. If you feel comfortable with their terms and conditions, you can accept. Otherwise, you can reject it if you’re not satisfied with any loan company’s terms and conditions.

Check if the company is making efforts to ensure you get a good loan deal. Check if they provide informational articles that can help you with your loan. Also, check for their customer support. They should be easily reachable and available. In addition, to help you know how they relate with their customers, you can check for reviews from credible sources. These reviews can help you determine the extent to which the loan company is customer-centric.

FAQs about Quick Loans Online

Q1. What is a payday loan?

A payday loan is an advance on your upcoming paycheck. Payday loans are also called cash advances. You get a short-term loan and repay it when you get your next paycheck. Payday loans do not require many details. They just need your income source and an active bank account.

Also, payday loans are mainly given to people with bad or non-existent credit. Generally, a payday loan should be used for short-term financial solutions instead of long-term.

Q2. Are online payday loans legal?

You can determine the legality of online payday loans through several means. In some states, payday loans are illegal, while they are legal in others. As such, these loan companies need a license. The licenses vary as we have both single-state and multi-state licenses. Furthermore, there are federal regulatory bodies that promote best practices among lenders. These bodies ensure you’re protected as a borrower so that these lenders don’t take advantage of you.

Q3. How can I detect a fake loan website?

Firstly, check if they’re dedicated to ensuring your safety. Look at the web URL to check if it starts with “HTTPS” instead of “HTTP.” Secondly, if it begins with ” HTTP,” ensure there’s a lock before the URL. If the lock is broken, then it’s an obvious red flag. Furthermore, check if they mention any data protection practices and read every detail to ensure they outline the information they protect and how they protect it.

Professionalism matters a lot. Therefore, check how well they arrange their website. Also, check for their contact details. Any reputable company will include how you can reach them. Finally, you can google the company and read reviews from credible sources.

Q4. Are there restrictions on how I can spend the money gotten from a payday loan?

As far as payday loans are concerned, there aren’t any restrictions on how you spend your payday loan. Unlike banks and credit card unions that need proof of what you need the money for, these lenders don’t question how you spend funds. This gives you total freedom to use the funds, thus making it a flexible loan option.

Q5. Do payday loans require credit checks?

Since payday loans are accessible to people with bad credit scores, most do not require credit checks. Instead, they make use of other criteria to determine eligibility. They only check things like age, checking accounts, and a regular income source. However, some online payday loans still run a soft credit check when determining eligibility.

Q6. Do payday loans affect my credit score?

It’s unlikely that payday loans will affect your credit score. Since they don’t usually require credit checks, they’re not reported to the credit bureaus. However, if you don’t repay your loan and your lender sends your debt to a debt collector, the debt collector might report your debt to the credit bureaus. Doing this will impact your credit score negatively. Furthermore, some payday lenders file lawsuits to obtain unpaid debts. If you lose the court case on your payday loan, this will reflect in your credit report, thus lowering your credit score.

Q7. What happens when I fail to make my monthly payments?

If you cannot make your monthly payments in due time, you should contact your lender and ask for an extension. Many lenders will be gracious to grant you an extension. However, if you cannot meet up with the new date, your lender can help you reduce your monthly payments. This way, you have a more extended period to repay the loan. This means that your lender will charge you additional fees, thereby increasing your overall payment.

Note that if you end up not repaying your loan, your lender has the right to take legal action against you. That’s why you must do proper research before signing any loan agreement and only obtain loans you can quickly repay. Doing this will make you avoid any legal battle beyond your means.

Q8. Can I acquire another online payday loan immediately after I repay the previous one?

First, you have to know that online payday loans are not a way to overcome severe financial difficulties. They’re just there to provide relief for you in times of emergency. To acquire another payday loan right after the previous one, you must know the required number of loans permitted per borrower in every state.

The number of loans to obtain is backed by the law. Therefore, you must ensure that multiple loans are permitted in your region. That way, you can know if you can obtain another loan immediately after repaying the first loan.

Q9. How long do I wait to receive my funds?

After filling your online application form, you’ll have to wait first to get approval. If you apply on a business day, the funds can get to your account in as short as 30 minutes. In some cases, when you apply on a non-business day such as weekends or national holidays, you might wait till the next business day to receive your funds.

Q10. Do I need any security or collateral before getting online payday loans?

Online payday loans are pretty easy to get. Therefore, you don’t need any security or collateral to obtain the loan. You only need to submit a few details. When you apply for online payday loans, you permit the lender to deduct your funds from your bank account electronically. Note that this is done only at the time of repayment.

As of November 23, 2021, there were over 43.6 million SARS-CoV-2 infections in the United States [1, 2] and more than 700,000 deaths from COVID-19 [1, 3]. Infection and death rates likely significantly underestimate the true population impact given that there have been nearly 300,000 additional deaths in the United States since the start of the pandemic. [4, 5]. In addition to the burden of mortality, there are long-term cardiac, respiratory and other consequences for patients with COVID-19 [6, 7]. In many parts of the United States, infection rates have evolved over time with changes in policy-mandated prevention strategies, decreasing when prevention-focused policies were in place, then increasing again at as prevention strategies were relaxed. [8].

A central part of public health strategies to control the spread of infectious diseases is to recommend or compel members of the public to engage in protective behavior to prevent disease transmission. In the event of COVID-19, staying 6 feet apart, wearing masks, working remotely when possible, avoiding public gatherings and other strategies have been approved and communicated to the public by the CDC, FEMA, WHO, and other national and international public health agencies. agencies [9,10,11]. These preventative strategies are effective in slowing the rate of COVID-19 infection [12,13,14]. However, for infectious disease prevention behaviors to be effective, they must be consistently adopted by a sufficient proportion of the population to slow transmission. [15,16,17].

Social and cultural influences on the construction of risk perceptions and preventive behaviors.

Most theoretical and empirical treatments of risk perception focus on individual cognitive and reasoning processes as the key determinant of a person’s perception of risk. [18, 19]. In contrast, the social risk amplification framework [20, 21] describes the process by which scientific evidence, the means by which people obtain information (e.g., news media), and political and cultural forces shape how individuals interpret and prioritize health risk information health. According to this framework, perceptions of risk can be amplified or dampened by social processes that influence: 1) the availability of risk information (e.g., via media and political sources) and 2) society’s response to it. information (for example, discourse on the veracity of risk information in the media and interactions with cultural and peer groups [20]).

Influential communicators such as social/activist organizations and opinion leaders among social groups or organizations are key sources of information and can influence the discourse surrounding risk information [21]. For example, political groups, parties and leaders are prominent examples of influential communicators who can shape how their members and affiliates interpret risk information. These processes of amplification and mitigation through influential communicators likely contribute to an alignment between, on the one hand, people’s political affiliation and their underlying values and, on the other hand, their perceived risk.

During the pandemic, politicians in several countries have sought to control the amount and type of information the public receives about the risk of COVID-19, as well as to actively challenge scientific discourse on risk. Residents of several countries received messages from political leaders that downplayed the risks and raised doubts about prevention strategies. For example, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, has publicly announced that he will not engage in social distancing and, more specifically, that he will continue to shake hands [22] less than a week before the UK government begins planning policy strategies to prevent transmission [23]. In Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro made public statements that downplayed the perception that the virus posed a risk, comparing it to the flu [24] and actively advocating against the preventive policy strategies that were being implemented in Brazilian cities [25, 26]. Similar downplaying and contradictory statements can be found among the leaders of other countries [27].

In the United States, the country of the current study, then-President Donald Trump regularly made public statements that downplayed the threat posed by the virus. [28, 29] in terms of severity, comparing it to the flu [30]and the number of cases and deaths [31]. President Trump has also downplayed the importance of preventive actions to protect against transmission, including arguing against mask mandates. [32]pushing for an early relaxation of stay-at-home and business-shutdown orders [33]and holding public gatherings despite social distancing policies in place [34]. The president admitted to being motivated to downplay the risk despite clear warnings about the severity and severity of the spread of COVID-19 ([35] p. xviii).

In addition to risk perception, individuals’ decision-making regarding COVID-19 prevention behaviors took place in the context of a complex, saturated and rapidly changing information environment, with multiple messages and sometimes contradictory from traditional media, social media and government messages. [36]. Political messages are proven to influence the behavior of people who support the politician delivering the messages. Specifically, a study of the impact of President Trump’s anti-vaccination messages found that exposure to the messages negatively impacted vaccination engagement intentions, but only from voters who did vote. for him. [37].

Based on the social risk amplification framework, one would expect that the selective communication of risk information by politicians and the confusion of politics and public health in media messages would influence perception. of risk by the public and their decision-making regarding behavioral strategies to mitigate risk. Moreover, given the current American phenomenon where some news media offer partisan perspectives on issues, one would expect this effect to be exacerbated as the news media “amplify” messages about the perception of risk. [38]. Thus, one could predict that political affiliation, by affecting exposure, attention, processing and response to SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 messages, would influence risk perception and behavior.

Considering empirical evidence and plausible and theoretical mechanisms for the role of social amplification in risk perception and decision-making regarding risk reduction messages, we hypothesize that political party affiliation will be linked to engagement in preventative measures for SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19, so that – given the prevalent themes of minimization in President Trump’s statements, those who identify more strongly as Republicans will be less likely to engage in preventative measures and will perceive fewer risks compared to those who identify more strongly as Democrats.

We examined whether Americans’ identification with political parties is related to perceived risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection, severity of COVID-19 illness, and engagement in a range of preventive behaviors. Although there have been reviews of the relationship between political affiliation and support for preventive measures against COVID-19 (e.g., political measures to restrict gatherings, mask-wearing), our approach adds to this literature in two ways. First, we use a nuanced and quasi-continuous assessment of the strength of party affiliation, providing insight into how the strength of political beliefs affects responses to COVID-19. Second, we examine the effects of political partisanship on perceptions of the risk of COVID-19 infection in addition to support for preventive measures, providing insight into how politicians’ risk minimization messages might affect perceptions of individuals from the risks posed by COVID-19.

Anti-China sentiment sparked by controversial decisions at the 2022 Beijing Olympics is turning into a political issue, prompting presidential candidates to jump on the latest bandwagon to woo voters.

On Monday, Korean speed skaters Hwang Dae-heon and Lee June-seo were disqualified in separate groups for the men’s 1,000 meters semi-finals held at Capital Indoor Stadium in China.

While coming first and second in their respective group races, both athletes were penalized and made way for two Chinese skaters, as China eventually won gold and silver in the final of the 1000 meters.

Immediately after the race, presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea quickly spoke out against the arbitration.

“I am very disappointed and frustrated with the skewed judgment in short track speed skating racing,” Lee wrote via his Facebook on Tuesday.

In a separate post, Lee also voiced support for the Korea Olympic and Sports Committee’s decision to appeal the referees’ decisions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Yoon Suk-yeol, the rival candidate for the main opposition People Power Party, also said he “deeply sympathized” with the anger and loss that Korean athletes would feel.

“I’m worried about young Koreans who are very disappointed and questioning what fairness is, given the incident at the Olympics,” Yoon said on Tuesday, acknowledging the strongest anti-sentiment prevalent among the 20 and 30 years.

“But the Olympic spirit and sportsmanship of our athletes is of great value, and I hope they can do their best until the end.”

Ahn Cheol-soo of the minor opposition People’s Party, a distant third in the presidential race, also posted a complaint on his Facebook on Tuesday.

“China should immediately reverse the ‘dirty’ judgment and return the gold medal to South Korea,” Ahn wrote.

Ahn said the South Korean skaters were deprived of the gold medal due to biased officiating in short track speed skating.

Korean speed skater Hwang Dae-heon edged out two Chinese rivals and a Turkish in the men’s 1,000 meters semi-finals held Monday at Capital Indoor Stadium in China. (Yonhap)

Amid growing anti-China sentiment, political pundits say the foreign policy leanings of presidential candidates could affect their support ratings.

Lee of the ruling Liberal Party appears to have a friendlier stance toward China than his conservative rival Yoon. Yoon, on the other hand, has taken a position favoring the United States over China. And the two main candidates had criticized each other for their different positions.

Yoon’s conservative bloc would claim that Lee and the ruling bloc have a “pro-China” approach, while Lee’s campaign would call Yoon’s diplomatic stance “populist.”

Lee has emphasized “balance” and “practicality” in his diplomatic policy pledges, in the country’s relations with neighboring countries and alliances – giving almost equal importance to the United States and China. China.

Aware of the widespread desires for regime change, Lee points out that his administration would be different from the current administration of Moon Jae-in.

On defense and China, Lee argues that Moon’s “three no’s” policy is the right direction for economic cooperation with China.

Moon’s ‘three no’ policies include pledging the country will not deploy additional high-altitude terminal area defense batteries for national defense, integrate into the regional state-led missile defense system United States, nor will it participate in trilateral military cooperation with the United States and Japan.

The government’s decision to deploy the first THAAD anti-missile system led to a diplomatic clash between Seoul and Beijing in 2017, putting a serious blow to trade between the two countries.

Yoon, on the other hand, objected to the Moon administration’s inclination toward China and North Korea. He stressed the importance of building a strong bond with the United States and gave only strategic messages to maintain good relations with China.

He also openly supported the idea of deploying additional THAAD systems for national defense.

In a poll by Hankook Research and South Korean online newspaper SisaIn published in June last year, China was the country least favored by South Korean audiences, scoring lower than Japan and China. North Korea.
