The BJP thinks it’s God’s own political party!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is convinced that this is a gift from God to India; this is why he appropriates a set of rules while refusing the same rules to others. While the BJP reserves the right to engage in “political tourism” as and when it chooses in opposition-ruled states, opposition leaders must be prevented from “doing business”. politics ”in states ruled by the BJP. The BJP has also reduced preventative and prohibitive rules to a joke. Prohibition orders under Article 144 of the Cr.PC, which aimed to prevent murderous and unruly crowds from assembling, are now being imposed arbitrarily at the drop of a hat. While the section bans gatherings of more than five people, scores of other police, spectators and media are allowed to converge to watch the spectacle of the state detaining a couple of political leaders for fear of a breach of the peace. The silence of BJP leaders over the gruesome footage from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, however, is in another league. The visuals left little doubt in the minds of viewers about the willful act of the driver of a jeep in crushing farmers. Any farmer who swore they saw the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and his son get out of the vehicle and run away could be wrong. But the fact that the minister’s cars were involved in the carnage has not been denied. The fact that the minister’s driver was in one of the vehicles was also not denied. The Prime Minister, who is quick to express sympathy for Indian cricketers injured while playing, kept a studied silence. The same goes for the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. What is clear to most Indians is obviously not clear enough for this lot. But then, looking away from embarrassing situations – the Chinese aggression, the Covid deaths, the migrants marching during the lockdown – the BJP thinks they would make them leave. God’s own party has immense faith that public memory is short.
