ATLANAT (Pajhwok): The UK does not support anyone, including Afghan nationals, seeking political change through violence in Afghanistan, UK Mission in Afghanistan Chargé d’Affaires in Doha Hugo Shorter has said.
In a statement, Shorter said the UK would not allow its “soil to be used to plan or prepare for it, and we strongly discourage others from doing so”.
Shorter’s statement said “violence of any kind is not in the interest of Afghanistan, or the international community, and we deplore terrorist attacks of any kind.”
To promote peace and stability, provide essential humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and address common security concerns, there is no alternative but to engage pragmatically with the current Afghan administration. , and that’s what we do. Statement added.
Shorter’s statement was welcomed by the Islamic Emirate’s Foreign Ministry.
“We welcome the UK’s policy of prioritizing engagement and not supporting armed opposition to the Afghan government. Recognition that peace and stability in Afghanistan and positive engagement with the IEA are in the interest of the region and the world is commendable.
